A refreshing approach to engaging students to write. Lesson plans, narratives, and real classroom moments.
Going Bohemian How to Teach Writing Like You Mean It eBook Lawrence Baines Anthony Kunkel Morgan Upchurch Rob Jones
The first thing that caught my eye within the pages of this book was the authors' position about how the current teacher is responsible for the students in his/her class. Get over the idea that these students should already know something. If they don't, teach them. And this book is so helpful in showing teachers of writing how to do just that. The language is plain; the activities are useful. With all of the Common Core requirements now, I have ever recommended this book to many of my colleagues who are new to the concept of teaching writing. Activities are broken down by type, time, objective, summary, materials, setup, procedure, and enrichment. There is something for everyone. I love this book. I think every teacher should read it at least once.Product details

Going Bohemian How to Teach Writing Like You Mean It eBook Lawrence Baines Anthony Kunkel Morgan Upchurch Rob Jones Reviews
I am excited about this book. I will read it carefully over the ski break. There are some writing activities that look interesting.
Some fun ideas for engaging students. Some mediocre ideas too.
Going bohemian is a practical resource that any teacher or parent can use to engage student writing. The activities suggested are fun, meaningful, and truly captivate and engage writers who otherwise may find literacy issues less than worthy of their time. This is not gimmicky or hokey, but a well thought out, honest book that explores writing in an adventurous manner and it relies on sound ideas, not lots of props or hard to assemble resources. If you use this book, you will have young people writing and smiling at the same time!
